Austin Samba supports our schools and the artistic and musical development of our community’s youth at the 14th annual Care to Dance event for the Leap of Joy organization. At this event, children will showcase their performances and, at the end, we will put the icing on the cake to celebrate their successes with a showcase of our own.

Founded by Robert Patterson, also known as Tio Jacaré, Austin Samba began with a bold vision to plant the heartbeat of Brazilian samba in Central Texas and build a community rooted in rhythm, culture, and connection.

In this show, Austin Samba will be celebrating its 25 year anniversary and honoring the legacy Tio Jacaré created years ago. Our show will include guest performances from Grupo Ladeira, MeliSamba, and Inside Out Steel Band.

We will be showcasing our amazing percussion and beautiful dancing during Ani’s full-blown Brazilian street party. The event will also include performances from our amazing friends Seu Jacinto, Grupo Ladeira, SambAustin, Zazueira Allstars, and DJ Sampa.

Our beloved Austin Samba member and surdo player, Erica Parfit, is currently battling cancer and her medical expenses are piling up. Our band, along with our friends from Grupo Ladeira will be hosting a benefit fund raiser to help her out. All proceeds go to Erica. Please come join us to celebrate life and show our dear friend some well needed support!

Austin Samba will bring its energy, colors, and rhythms in support of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) on its annual fundraiser the “NAMIWalks” - its oldest signature fundraising program. Over 190 community Walks are presented by NAMI State Organizations and NAMI Affiliates from coast to coast. United by our unique experiences, journeys and stories, NAMIWalks is a beautiful celebration of each of us - individuals with mental illness, their family, their loved ones, their community.

Join us in this very worthy cause!

Austin Samba partners with Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas and supports the LGBTQ+ community in its annual Austin Pride Parade. Expect lots of beautiful colors, amazing energy, and the infectious rhythms of our percussion and dance in the streets of downtown Austin!

Austin Samba continues to support the UT women’s soccer team as they play at their home games during the regular season. We play our rhythms and shake our horns throughout the games, engaging with the crowd to help our soccer girls to victory at every game.

We kickoff the season with the exhibition game against UTSA on August 8th at 7pm.

Austin Samba joins forces with Ani’s Day and Night and other performers, artists, and vendors from around Austin to raise funds for the 2025 Kerville flood disaster victims.

Austinites and curious travelers will join the celebration of belonging at Austin City Hall. This event showcases the eclectic mix of cultures that make Austin such a weird and wonderful place to visit and live in. The event will include art activities, dance and music performances from different cultures and music genres, and a showcase of the city's department organizations.

This fabulous event is made in partnership with Almost Real Things and is just one way we are creating community to help prevent a culture of hate from taking root in Austin.

In the Heart of the Community…

Austin Samba and its guest performers “Bênção Capoeira” and “Grupo Ladeira” bring the energy, joy, colors, and rhythms of Brazil to Zilker.  We will share with you the music and dance that grew from the history of love, strength, and perseverance of the community.  We will showcase percussion from different regions of Brazil along with the grace and power of its dance - which you, our community, will become a part of!

Austin Samba brings its signature Brazilian drumming and dance to Zilker Hillside Theater with its hip-shaking 2019 show: “Carnavália.” Featuring music by Beth Carvalho, Os Tribalistas and Caetano Veloso, Carnavália is sure to get you on your feet and is a can’t-miss part of springtime in Austin. We'll also provide a dance lesson and, as always, a dance party. All for free.

La Villita's Annual Dia de los Muertos Parade and Festival

Día de Los Muertos Celebration brings together traditional art and culture with the best in live music entertainment to create a two-day destination event for the City of San Antonio to celebrate the Day of the Dead. The event hosts a variety of activities over the weekend celebration including the largest open altar exhibition in the city.
